Strengthening global bonds: The Mission Support Office at Robins Air Force Base

ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE Ga.—The Air Force Life Cycle Management Center Mission Support Office at Robins Air Force Base, Georgia serves as a vital on-the-ground extension of the Air Force Security Assistance and Cooperation Directorate. Their mission is to provide support to foreign military sales offices directly at the installation.

By bridging the gap between Robins AFB and Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, they ensure these programs have the oversight and international coordination required for success. The team is split between Foreign Military Sales Logistics, which gives expert guidance and handles management of FMS supply chains and logistics, the Foreign Disclosure Office, which navigates the complexities of information sharing ensuring authorized and secure disclosures to international partners, and the International Partner Support Office, which liaises and coordinates services for international partners.

“Not only does the mission support office offer assistance for our foreign military partners, but we also work to help market our nation to our international partners and foreign liaison officers that are here,” said Nikki Ridley, chief of the Mission Support Office. “We created an experience and a culture within strengthening our bonds with other nations and partners.”

Vetted by the foreign disclosure office, all foreign partner visits tied to military sales programs or contractor facility tours with Boeing, Lockheed Martin or Northrop Grumman involve coordinating accommodations and managing the transfer of technical data, case finances and aircraft schematics.

“We coordinate across Department of the Air Force commands and other military service branches on data review to ensure nothing shared is considered unauthorized for release,” said Charles Metts, Foreign Disclosure Office lead. “As far as visits, we coordinate with the Department of State and Homeland Security down to our base-level partners, like the Air Force Office of Special Investigations and security forces, to ensure the international partner has been fully vetted and is authorized to be here.”

The foreign military sales program is another piece that supports warfighter readiness by facilitating sales and training local program offices and leadership execute foreign military sales through targeted instruction and high-level events.

“The office equips personnel, including Air Force newcomers, to navigate the entire FMS lifecycle through targeted training and engagement platforms,” said Chandra Thompson, Foreign Military Sales lead. “By delivering foundational courses like FMS 101 and specialized instruction on Letters of Request and Letters of Offer and Acceptance, the office ensures the enterprise is aligned to translate partner inquiries into legally binding defense agreements and host high-level international visits.”

MSO also manages the have foreign liaison officers as part of the international partner support office, with a total of 39 here at Robins AFB who coordinate and take care of any assistance the international partners need from things like housing, childcare or food specifics to ensure they have a comfortable stay and can focus on the mission.
